Watery Weekend

Laynie and I went up to New York last weekend to babysit the Honor kids while Maureen and Eric went away. We had a great time, especially taking pictures in the pool. Water-proof camera!

Me and my favorite kids: Carson, age 7, Morgan, age 10, and McConn, age 6.

The pool area. You can see a little Laynie in the top right corner, ready to go down the slide.

The slide went pretty fast... surprisingly fast, apparently.

Morgie on the slide.

Heehee, what a geek.

McConn is so light, she practically flies up the side!

Laynie and her getting-less-little-all-the-time boy (too bad Laynie's face is blocked by bubbles). It is a well-known fact that Carson adores Laynie and is the only one who does not need my help to communicate with her. He doesn't sign either. I think they might use telepathy.

McConn smells like teen spirit... oh, nevermind.

Me and Mor. Everybody had fun taking underwater pictures.

The kids showed off their personalities...

McConn's personality is a model/singer/actress/princess.

I don't know why I like this pictures so much.. Carson is just stinking cute.

Me and my favorite boy!

Can you believe these children have a pool and did not know about chicken fighting? We were able to educate them. (Videography by Morgan)

I still can't believe Laynie let Morgie get on her shoulders. I told her no!

Poor Laynie.

McConn wasn't really good at the whole "using your muscles" thing.

But she was very good at carrying her older brother!

We threw the little kids around for a while.

They showed off their awesome jumps.

"Save me from these insane people?"

The next day, the kids went to a friend's house and we had the pool to ourselves. Yay! Time to play with the camera...

It's hard to take a good underwater picture.

Very hard...

Got one!

Little devil Laynie.

Scary girl!

See? Crazy eyes.

I love swimming!

We had a good time in New York, and I want to go back again before the end of the summer. Next time, Katie, you are coming with! Two musketeers need the third!

Visit to New York

*These pictures are from Christmas break.*

Looking for apps for Morgan's iPod Touch, which she got for Christmas.

Silly Morgie

Watching Star Wars with McConn and Carson, I mean Darth. I gave Carson the original trilogy DVDs as his Christmas present. He loves Star Wars. Because I was into it, the girls began to like it, especially Morgan. I don't think Star Wars was McConn's cup of tea at all, although she tried. It does have one princess in it, which is a positive, but a gun-toting princess is not ideal--and Princess Leia doesn't even wear pink.

I'm not sure she's feeling the way she looks... that's just her television-watching expression.

Carson was so funny--he kept looking at the DVD box during the movie.

After a while, Carson had enough of the girls, so he went to hang out with his Laynie.

Star Wars was pretty much the theme of the break. Carson was so into it, and I'll admit that I really encouraged him, quoting lines with him and the like. Carson is a lot of fun to hang out with.

Yes, girls, you are, too. I suppose you'll read this when you're back from the cruise.

I'm trying to even remember what else we did, besides watch Star Wars movies. Laynie and I went shopping with Morgie. Pajamas, underwear... fun times. I was having a sickly day and kept running to the bathroom, but Morgan and Laynie were very patient with me.

I don't remember what else. I really should blog closer to when I do things, but better late than never. ;)

McConn, age 6. Carson, age 7.

M: Lard Vader? Why they called him Lard Vader? They're doing it wrong.
C: Lord Vader.
M: Lard Vader?
C: LORD Vader. Sometimes they called him that.
M: It's as'posed [supposed] to start with a D. DARK Vader.

Glass Breaker

Carson is hilarious. He is one of those kids who can be found posing in front of the mirror for imaginary press shots and commentating on his plays. He loves sports and is good at them. However... you shouldn't play ball in the house. A few weeks ago, Carson was playing catch in the great room with his dad, and somehow the baseball went through the glass on the side of the grandfather clock. Obviously this was daddy's fault, since he wasn't able to get in front of the clock in time to catch the ball. Carson told me this story and informed me that his new nickname was Ball Breaker. He brought me his ball and little souvenir bat and asked me to write "Carson Ball Breaker" on them. Hmm. I was laughing on the inside but trying to figure out a way to discourage the boy from his chosen nickname. Ding, light bulb. I pointed out that the ball wasn't broken; the glass was broken, so his nickname should be Glass Breaker. Carson was totally fine with that, and I wrote it on his bat and ball. Eric (daddy) came downstairs a few minutes later and thanked me; he had heard the whole thing from his office.

Almost a great picture.

Me, Glass Breaker, and Morgie

Showing McConn how to play Mr. AahH! She loves to play games on my iPhone.

Morgan is so weird.

By the way, let me just point out the way McConn is dressed, in comparison with everyone else. The book Fancy Nancy might have been written about her.

(I know I said I didn't have any pictures of the kids from last weekend... I guess I lied. Forgot about these.)
