The Penny

Example is not the main thing in influencing others. It is the only thing.

Take-a-Break

Tuesday night, we had dinner at Take-a-Break, a roadside ice cream stand in Tuxedo. It's 10 minutes from the house. The kids LOVE Take-a-Break. When I visit, they beg me to take them to two places: IHOP and Take-a-Break. Those places meet Carson's food criteria.

Carson eats bacon, pancakes/waffles, go-gurt (NOT yogurt in a little tub), penne pasta (60/40 pasta and parmesan cheese), pizza, chocolate chips, and ice cream. After four years of adults bugging him, Carson will also take a single bite of broccoli, if it has cheese on it. He's a funky kid.

We ate pizza.

We drank soda (except Morgan, who had pink lemonade, because she was raised by her former babysitter to think soda is disgusting).

Carson and McConn played.

He's "turning on" her back.

Good thing McConn has a tough big brother to protect her!

Nice to have someone your age in the family--McConn is 10 months younger than C-Judge.

BFFs

Morgan was the mature older sister.

Then again...

We had ice cream for dessert.

We had a great time.

Best Pictures

These are my favorite pictures from yesterday.

Sweet Morgan. She is big and little.

Carson is a beautiful boy.

McConn has a winning smile.

Little Rockers

I've been in New York for the past few days, keeping an eye on the kids while Maureen and Eric are away. Not far, just Long Island. Anyway, the kids were playing Rock Band yesterday, and I couldn't help but take pictures. LOADS of pictures. It was difficult to choose the best ones, because the kids are so gosh darned photogenic.

Time to rock! Carson got things going.

Morgan whaled on the drums.

Rex (aka "Wax" -- some people around here can't say their Rs) kept time.

Carson nailed "Eye of the Tiger."

McConn got a turn on the mic, which is the only part she deigns to take on Rock Band.
She doesn't rock so much as sing beautifully like a real live princess.

A star is born. You can see the glint of success in her eyes.

Pleased with her performance. McConn really does have a good voice. I was impressed!

Morgan took the mic.

He might have lost those teeth in a bar fight with his bandmates.
Or it could be developmental.
You'll never know, will you?

Carson took command of the drums.

The pictures above are somewhat misleading. This is what Carson really looked like
on the drums.

See?

The good big sister helped her brother with the kick drum pedal.

It was kind of boring.

OK, really boring.

I guess that tongue thing might run in the family.
(Yes, she's not blood related... what's your point?)

Morgan rocked the guitar.

McConn modeled.

Carson decided it was time to get down to it proper.

All the girls swoon. And Carson hides, because he doesn't like girls. Or attention.

What a fun time!

Beach Pictures

I just realized that I hadn't uploaded the pictures from the beach in June. These were taken at Sandbridge in Virginia and Kill Devil Hills in North Carolina.

When can I get in?

Cool Laynie

Kate, I know that I promised no ugly pictures, but I love this one.

This girl has attitude!

Yeah, me...

BFFs

Me and my baby sister

Yes, I'm hiding behind the boogie board because I'm fat. But look how pretty Katie is!

I love this picture of Laynie.
p.s. hair by me :o)

Missed that little wave!

Katie is so cool.

ASL is so handy at the beach. It can be hard to hear over the waves, etc.,
but you can still hear with your eyes.
I love, love, love that Katie can sign. It makes it easy to hang out
with my two favorite girls: Katie and Laynie.

Pretty mermaid.

The beachgoers got quite a show while we were there. Yes, this was a common sight.

I love the beach!

We put the lifeguard stand to good use.

Weight of the world, hm?

And a bonus picture:
I call it Addicted to Technology.
